Core Classes

Starting September 2023, students in 9th and 10th grade will use the HMH Into Literature curriculum to strengthen their use of critical reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills.

9th graders have a double period of English Language Arts, which allows them to earn four credits of the eight required for graduation in one year.

10th grade culminates in students sitting for the English Language Arts Regents exam after the conclusion of two additional English courses.

After students successfully earn 4 English credits, and pass the ELA regents exam, there are a variety of English courses they can enroll in such as Creative Writing, Journalism, Advanced Placement English Literature & Composition, and Advanced Placement English Language.

Students are required to earn 8 credits of English to graduate.
