Ms. Marino

Hello, I'm Ms. Marino, and I'm thrilled to be part of the John Dewey High School family teaching for my third year!

I was born and raised in Brooklyn, and I've always had a passion for reading and writing. I embarked on my educational journey at Brooklyn College, where I earned my degree in Secondary English Education. My goal is to instill the same love for ELA in my students! 

My teaching philosophy centers around the idea that school should be a sanctuary where students from all walks of life feel safe, valued, and empowered to flourish. I am committed to fostering an inclusive and nurturing environment where every individual can grow into the successful young adults I know they have the potential to become.

I believe that when students are engaged and excited about learning, they can achieve remarkable things. I'm a firm believer in connecting with my students on their interests because I know that bringing real-life context into our lessons makes learning more engaging and relatable for them. My aim is to inspire a lifelong love for learning.

Outside of the classroom, I enjoy playing video games, spending time with my cats, and traveling. I am eager to embark on this educational journey with my students, and I can't wait to see the incredible growth and accomplishments that lie ahead. Let's make this a year filled with discovery, growth, and, most importantly, a deep love for all things literary!
