PHYLICIA STONE

Greetings, everyone! I'm Ms. Stone, and I'm thrilled to be embarking on my 10th year in the Department of Education and my 12th year in the field of education. Currently, I proudly serve as the 9th-grade Global Studies teacher at John Dewey High School.

My background in education is a tapestry of diverse subjects and experiences. Over the years, I've had the privilege of imparting knowledge and fostering growth in a variety of subjects, including U.S. History, Global Studies, Criminology, Restorative Justice Practices(Advisory), Yoga and Mindfulness. This eclectic range of subjects has allowed me to connect with students across different grade levels, spanning from 7th to 12th grade.
At the core of my teaching philosophy is a strong belief in equipping students not only with knowledge but also with the invaluable skill of learning how to learn. This approach aligns closely with the timeless wisdom of Maimonides, who wisely stated, "Give a man a fish, and you feed him for a day; teach a man to fish, and you feed him for a lifetime."

As I reflect on my journey in education, I am inspired by the growth and transformation I've witnessed in countless young minds. It's a privilege to be a part of their educational voyage, and I look forward to continuing to nurture their curiosity, critical thinking, and love for learning as we navigate the exciting world of education together. Thank you for being a part of this journey with me!
