Wade Moody's Page
Moody started out teaching at Dewey and is in his 11th year here. He loves its proximity to Coney Island and Brighton Beach where he can take dips in the ocean during the warmer months and sometimes the cold ones. He also loves the Dewey students. On a daily basis he is touched by their kindness and thoughtfulness and feels lucky to be a part of their community.
Moody became a teacher because he enjoys helping others expand their knowledge and improve their skills. A ping pong coach of Moody's once said that a good instructor is like a time machine. Anyone can improve with hard work, but with a good teacher/instructor, a student can achieve their future growth much faster.
As the reading intervention teacher, Moody enjoys showing students techniques for improving their word knowledge and ability to comprehend and retain information in their readings. Moody also teaches Ethnobotany, a science elective where he shares his passion for composting, soil and hydroponic gardening, healthy eating, and the cultural knowledge related to the plant and fungi kingdoms.
Moody is also the advisor to Gardening Club, Skate Club, and Ping Pong Club and coaches the girls Table Tennis team.
