Dewey has a Garden!

Students collaborated with Bette Midler’s New York Restoration Project (NYRP) and we now have a beautiful garden with 12 raised beds that will supply culinary, ACES, students, and staff with fresh produce!

The garden features a shade structure/rain harvest system that will allow us to water the beds with rainwater. The garden also has native perennials that will attract pollinators which will support the garden’s health.

In addition to providing us with a fully funded garden, NYRP is going to work with students and staff in years to come to teach them about urban agriculture and how to make our garden thrive.

NYRP is doing their first lesson with Ethnobotany students. They will plant garlic and then prepare the beds for the winter with cover crop.
