PHYLICIA STONE

Greetings, everyone! I'm Ms. Stone, and I'm thrilled to be embarking on my 10th year in the Department of Education and my 12th year in the field of education. Currently, I proudly serve as the 9th-grade Global Studies teacher at John Dewey High School.

My background in education is a tapestry of diverse subjects and experiences. Over the years, I’ve had the opportunity to teach U.S. History, Global Studies, Criminology, Restorative Justice Practices (Advisory), as well as Yoga and Mindfulness. This variety has allowed me to connect with students from 7th through 12th grade in meaningful ways, both inside and outside the classroom.

At the heart of my teaching is a simple belief: education isn’t just about what students learn, but about helping them develop the skills to keep learning throughout their lives. I strive to create opportunities where students build curiosity, critical thinking, and self-awareness—skills that will serve them well beyond the classroom.

Looking back, the most rewarding part of my work has been seeing students grow, gain confidence, and discover new possibilities for themselves. I’m grateful to play a role in that process and look forward to continuing to guide and support students on their learning journeys
